Welcome to the 1st Posting!

While this blog is still under construction, I wanted to go ahead and get it launched so you could start subscribing to it and initiate your own breathless anticipation for each breathless post or comment! :-) So don't be surprised if some changes appear as we go along, but I believe the basic idea is enough in place to go ahead and start.

One of the things I will be adding soon is a link to a genealogy file that our son-in-law, Kevin Bowser, is creating on Ancestry.com. I think you will find that interesting when it becomes available.

I hope you will find the time to not only read the posts and comments, but to make your own contributions with your comments for the rest of us to enjoy!

And now for today's entry!

I just noticed that in 1964 the calendar dates fell on the same days of the week as they do this year! So, 45 years later we can look back on March 12, for example, and be reminded not only what happened on that date, but that it was the same day of the week!

On this day in 1964 Ruby wrote:

"Went to Harlingen this morning for Dr. Hamilton to check Henry's face, but this is the Dr.'s day out of the office, so we have to go back tomorrow. We drove to the Rambler place and had a new tail pipe put on the car and the lever to the signal lights fixed. We then drove to Olmito and ate dinner with Jewel. Alma and Josie and Bettie were there and Jim and Nellie and Jimmy Glenn, too. We had a good dinner and a pleasant afternoon. Nellie drove us around a little while."

Well, I suppose that entry is a little ordinary and pedestrian all by itself, but becomes a piece of the overall mosaic which I believe we will all weave together as we share memories and viewpoints. I may sometimes post several days entries together to keep a connected story together if it seems to make sense to do so.

Who, besides me, remembers that old Rambler? Maybe some of you younger ones even drove it! I probably even drove it myself a time or two.
